PAWS IN THE PARK June 28, 2008 9:00 am to 12 noon Our 1st annual Paws In The Park is a morning dedicated to bringing our children (young and not so young) and their dogs together for some fun, bonding, and a bit of education thrown in for good measure! There are agility demonstrations, police K-9 demonstrations and PRIZE WINNING (doggy) contests scheduled. FREE OF CHARGE!
In order for us to make the event a success, Unity Animal Rescue is asking for your support. Who are we, you ask? We are a volunteer rescue group, rescuing abandoned animals and providing safe and loving homes to qualified families who wish to adopt them. As a non-profit organization, Unity Animal Rescue operates on donations.
Did you know that Animal Control kills animals within 5 days of the animal being picked up? Linda “Trixie” Hodges, owner of Unity Thrift Shop, and her dozens of volunteers take in hundreds of animals and transport them to “NO KILL” shelters in San Luis Obispo, Ojai and Ventura. They also pay for spaying of mothers, as well as any other veterinary needs and/or food.
Unity Animal Rescue has been providing this community service with monies generated from Unity Thrift Shop, located at 327 Center St, their own personal resources, and from donations from people like you, BUT…
these funds have not been able to keep up!
Our goals are: to make Taft Animal Control a “NO KILL” shelter, educate the community through fund raising events; such as our PAWS IN THE PARK; create a local Humane Society that would network with existing Kern County facilities, shelters and volunteers and create a safe place for healthy animals to avoid death and receive a loving home instead.
